Eden Reign … Mother Earth, our only true Monarch.

EDC Header

For those of you who don’t know… (shame on you)… I am running a wee sustainable recycled and upcycled designer vintage label.

But I am not here to talk sass and bide or jean paul or versace (all of which we have stocked by the way but never mind that).

I am here to talk dirty.

Dirty dirty waste dirty.

Oh so so so so much waste.

Globally, we now consume about 80 billion new pieces of clothing every year (400% more than we were consuming just two decades ago.) Not only that, the more we love buying clothes … the more we seem to love disposing of them!

Australians send 85% of the textiles we buy to landfill every year. LANDFILL ! In fact, Australia is second-largest consumer of new textiles after the US, averaging 27 kilograms of new textiles per annum. We buy it, wear it once or twice, get sick of it—or realise it’s gone out of fashion—and bin it only to begin the cycle all over again.

The environmental impact of this behaviour is HUGE! The clothing and textile industry is depleting non-renewable resources, emitting huge quantities of greenhouses gases and using massive quantities of energy, chemicals and water.

The apparel industry accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions and remains the second largest industrial polluter, second only to oil.

The synthetic fibres often favoured by fast fashion brands, such as polyester, nylon and acrylic, are basically a kind of plastic made from petroleum, which means they could take up to a thousand years to biodegrade !!!

North Americans throw away 10.5 Million Tons of clothing each year, 95% of which could be recycled

So? What’s my purpose?

To repurpose !

Eden Reign Collection has just launched a challenge:

NO NEW FASHION CHALLENGE! Or as it is affectionately know on social media … #NONEWFASHIONCHALLENGE

Can you go 1 whole year without buying any brand new clothes??!!! Only #preloved #recycled #upcycled or made from #recycledfabric?

You don’t have to but from Eden Reign Collection, but if you want to….

Eden Reign comes from second-hand warehouses in #Fiji. The collection is fresh off the ship from foreign lands. Europe, USA, Australia.

In the Pacific we get containers of aid clothing every week. Unfortunately some of the more #fanciful#couture, wintery and sheer … don’t really belong in our warm & traditional communities.

So when they don’t find new island homes…. they end up as landfill😢Which is sad for our paradise. 🌴And sad for the buried treasure.🌟

Eden Reign Vintage, is a #collective of Island hunteresses, who spend hours of their spare time, hand-picking the #ornate, the #designer, the #genuineleather, the #tassled, the #shiny… to salvage and save.

Some of our collection is pre-loved and bound for new love ❤️ Some are brand spanking new with tags and all 🎁🍹

Fashion is a cycle. What goes around comes around. 💡Let’s stop always making more and more and more things. Let’s reuse … instead of always recreating. Let’s #recycle#upcycle and # cherish.

Eden Reign Collection believes in #sustainablefashion at #sustainableprices. We believe in everyone’s right to feel like #magic and still be able to pay rent. We believe in humanity before society. A wild and kind collective .

We believe in honouring our origins. Mother Earth. For this is her reign. The ultimate Eden. #reignofthewildandfree

. . .

Each piece is handpicked, looked over and looked after, by our clever little vintage hunters, then sent straight home to you …. Peace by Piece.

Have been volunteering on a Friday at an RSPCA Op shop for 2 years. So much amazing clothing etc is donated. Spend a little time and effort and buy second hand. So rewarding.
